Sydney O'Hara picked up her NCAA leading seventh save in the game.

Syracuse (16-9, 2-3 Atlantic Coast) rebounded from Friday’s loss against Georgia Tech (9-17, 3-5) to defeat the Yellow Jackets 6-2.

Freshman Alexa Romero continued the impressive start to her collegiate career. The lefty tossed 5.2 innings of three-hit softball, striking out eight.

Syracuse scored the first run of the game in the third inning off an Alyssa Dewes solo home run and jumped out to a 5-0 lead in the fourth inning following a Dewes grand slam, to give her two home runs and five RBIs. Dewes joined Sydney O’Hara and Faith Cain as the only Orange players with multiple home runs, and O’Hara as the only the only two to hit multiple home runs in a game.

SU went into the bottom of the sixth up 6-0 with Romero still on the mound. After giving up two runs, Syracuse head coach Mike Bosch subbed O’Hara in for relief. The senior collected her NCAA-leading seventh save of the year, striking out two from the circle.

Freshman Toni Martin had a strong outing, going 1-2 at the plate, with a walk and two runs scored.

SU finishes their series with Georgia Tech on Sunday at noon. Next weekend the Orange will host their first home series against Louisville at Skytop Softball Stadium.
